• Sunday, February 21 9:10 a.m. The knocked-down mailboxes on Bayside Road held a vital clue to their nighttime toppling: footprints.
12:07 p.m. A crazed raccoon in a 10th Street children’s sandbox was blasted to smithereens, wherever that is. It was advised that the tarp on which it was dispatched be rinsed off before kids play on it.
Monday, February 22 12:46 p.m. Three fake $20 bills were passed at a Community Park Way health club.
4:07 p.m. Two wallets left in an unlocked car on Wisteria Way were inevitably stolen. One was found on Heather Lane.
4:29 p.m. A woman said that she hired someone to dogsit her $2,500 white shepherd/timber wolf, but when she went to pick it up, the sitter not only wouldn’t turn the pooch over, but moved to Arizona.
4:56 p.m. An Old Arcata Road landlord suspected that tenants at a house near an elementary school were selling drugs. An eviction notice was to be served.
9:03 p.m. A little lost goat appeared in a Brigid Lane yard. Since the animal shelter doesn’t take goats, the resident was asked to care for it until the next morning.
• Tuesday, February 23 2:07 a.m. A caller related a second-hand report given by an anonymous person encountered in a supermarket which alleged that a woman in McKinleyville was being “pimped out” by her boyfriend.
11:27 a.m. A Courtyard Circle resident reported a baby stroller and toy tractor were missing from the carport. This follows theft of a tool box and CD player.
1:20 p.m. A loose pit bull wandering around on Valley West Boulevard had “My name is Mabel” written on its leg with a marking pen. The graffitied dog was taken to the animal shelter.
4:21 p.m. A dog that “looks like Benji” was seen trotting around in traffic on Alliance Road.
• Wednesday, February 24 2:24 a.m. A Daina Court resident related a scene of madness, with a man setting a car on fire and then screaming “They lit a car on fire!” He then pounded on her door, she said. But when police arrived, it didn’t appear that any cars had been set ablaze.
11:25 a.m. Druggies were evicted from Room 125 of a Valley West budget motel, with one arrested for alleged dope and drunkenness.
12:50 p.m. A man said that a friend visiting from New York drove up to him at Ninth and K streets, parked his truck, got out and punched him in the face.
1:06 p.m. Someone clipped a chainlink fence, then broke through a wall and stole $10,000 in property from a South G Street business.
2:51 p.m. A Dorothy Court resident reported that she had broken an incense burner belonging to a former roommate, and the roommate never got over it. Even after moving out, the resident continued to get threatening text messages and e-mails making her fear for her physical safety.
3:46 p.m. Two travelerish dudes battled in the street in front of a Valley West golden arches, and one had a small child with him.
6:44 p.m. For whatever reason, a man strolled around outside a Valley West shopping center with a hatchet.
7:14 p.m. Two men (one with a shaved head) and a woman exercised their right to free speech by lurking around a Valley West ATM.
11:04 p.m. A tall man in a red beanie enjoyed $7.45 in yummies at a no-excuses Plaza tavern/restaurant, then walked out without paying.
• Thursday, February 25 9:12 a.m. Maybe someone is nosey and paranoid, or maybe that Lewis Court residence is a drug house.
11:15 a.m. A woman said that while securing her child’s car safety seat, a male friend of hers may have stolen her debit card and then used it to ring up $550 in purchases.
11:34 a.m. A man said that someone crashed into his parked car, causing fairly extensive front-end damage. The crasher left a note saying that he worked at a K Street business, and included a phone number. Bit when the victim called, the guy was uncooperative.
4:59 p.m. An Airstream Avenue residence was reported having cars coming and going 24 hours per day, with “drug deals” going on.
6:29 p.m. In attempting to serve papers for Small Claims Court at a K Street cannabis center, a server entered a private area and yelling erupted, with server and servee reportedly threatening each other with death.
