I doubt that any criminal charge against a mentally ill person would stick. Surely we haven’t sunk to criminalizing insanity… at least I hope not.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for the info. It sounds like an expensive (for taxpayers) plea for help. Any idea if he’s going to be charged with anything, like falsifying a statement or something along those lines?

Probably because he was neither at the hospital nor, apparently, armed as he claimed he had been when located and taken into custody. Phoning in a threat like that and leaving before the cops arrive seems sufficiently hoaxy to warrant the description.

Question. If the whole situation was a hoax, why did the subject get picked up on a welfare check and sent to Semper Virens?
