KEY OWNER LOCATED! – July 26, 2010

ARCATA BOTTOM – The person who owns a set of keys discovered last week on the Arcata Bottom may have been located.

The owner, a Valley West employee who asked not to be identified out of embarrassment, called the Arcata Eye today and said that she read the story in last week’s paper and immediately recognized her keys in the accompanying photo. “I’ve been having this crazy anxiety attack,” she said, concerned that unsavory characters might be in possession of the keys to her home and car. “You guys saved my ass.”

The key transfer was to take place late Monday or Tuesday, after the keys’ finder, Veronica, got off work and called the woman.

The woman verified the leading theory as to the keys’ loss, and solved one “key” mystery: how the keys could have been placed atop a car which then drove away, only to have the keys fall off. She said her husband drove the car away after she placed her set on the car’s roof.

Intrigue aside, she’s just happy to be getting her keys back.

“It gave me hope that there are still good people in the world,” she said.
