Master Gardeners, Moore And More At Breakfast In Bayside, Sunday, July 18

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

BAYSIDE – Bayside Grange & the Humboldt County Master Gardeners will join forces at the Grange to present a Master Gardener Plant Clinic as part of the next Breakfast in Bayside. Get answers to all those troubling questions about pruning roses, fruit trees and shrubs, as well as what and how to plant in your garden right now.

The clinic is a great place to get information about your most mysterious pests, diseases and confounding plant troubles. Bring your gardening questions, and/or your problem plants, for evaluation by Master Gardeners – bring soil samples and/or photos of pests and plant parts. Finally, get the help you need to set your garden right.

Bring the family to Breakfast in Bayside on Sunday, July 18, between 8 a.m. and noon at the Bayside Grange, 2297 Jacoby Creek Road. The gourmet breakfast features sourdough multi-grain pancakes, chicken apple sausage, scrambled eggs, scrambled tofu, yogurt, fruit of the season, Sacred Grounds organic coffee, teas, milk, orange juice, hot chocolate and Mad River Farm jams and local sauces. This healthy breakfast fare combines with live music, and lively conversation for an entertaining morning.

Breakfast in Bayside is proud to feature The Bayside Grange Music Project, playing live music for your enjoyment on Sunday morning.

The Bayside Grange Music Project is your friends and neighbors getting together of a Sunday afternoon (5 p.m. at the Grange) to explore folk melody from all over the world. All different technical abilities are represented in the group; the objective is to have fun playing together with others in a low-pressure environment and learning at one’s own pace.

The Project, a free program of the Bayside Grange, as well as the Grange Band (more advanced wind band from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sundays), is directed by Gregg Moore. Gregg is a native of Humboldt County who spent much of his adult life playing in the European Jazz scene, especially Amsterdam and rural Portugal. Since Nov., 2004 a circle has been completed and Gregg Moore is once again based in Humboldt County, promoting his unique vision of community development through amateur music, writing music for Theatre (Dell Arte Company, Flying Karamazov Brothers), teaching and performing.

Tickets are $8 for a full portion and $5 for smaller portions for kids ages two to 12 and Seniors 65 to 80 (under 2 and over 80 are free). Join the Bayside Breakfast Club and receive six breakfasts for the price of five. Diners who walk or ride a bicycle to the breakfast on will be awarded a free serving of real maple syrup.

Breakfasts in Bayside are great community mixers and help to generate funds towards the ongoing maintenance of the historic Bayside Grange Hall, a favorite venue for local non profit fund raisers, dances, workshops and family wedding receptions.
