Decide, opine and vote as you will. Perhaps, the mild delusion that you sense is your own. I do not recall ever speaking with you and, if you do not think that reminding People and the government what the intended constitutional boundaries of power between the People and the government are, then beam me up Scotty, there's no intelligent life down here. I concur that I am a damaged party, that is my Cause of Action.
Truth be known, the similarities are striking in the Emperor Norton of San Francisco matter; except that I am calling for declaratory relief from the Court and patience with the democratic process with Congress, though dissolving the United States Congress by force, which Norton ordered, is not off the table for the People. Thank you for the compliment.
I, hereby, do inform, and not advise, as follows:
What you consider "suit happy", I consider responsible citizen. I know not what your image of a good citizen is. If allowing public servants to violate your Rights with impunity is part of your image, that is where we differ. As to the dreaming allegation, I wish it were a dream. I would rather be on Dead Tour, than trying to protect the Rights of myself and others from out of control government. I traded Vegan Pad Thai on said tour for donations before being rudely introduced to the pathetic excuse for justice system in Humboldt. I have a background in natural medicine and work well with heavy machinery. I am, currently, so engrossed in law books that I am living very humbly, off what I find. Considering what Jesus said to the disciples in Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?", I feel safe in my way. I plead the Fifth Amendment on the shelter query. I do not accept government subsidies and argue that neither should corporations, extra-especially large ones.
The narcotics that you spoke of earlier were a few codeine and .3 grams of hash, neither of which I was aware was in a tin of mints that I found by where I was dancing in Mazzotti's on that fateful night of October 11, 2008, when the bouncer kept rudely advising me that "you can't stand on the sidewalk". Perhaps you believe corporations have the power to order the People around. I am not so afflicted.
Do tell, when did we speak and what of? Enjoy!

I have decided Mr. Benson that your replies to myself and others along with my conversation with you are the clearest reasons why I will not vote for you. I mean no disrespect, but it is my opinion that you are suffering from a mild delusion oriented mental illness and are most certainly damaged goods.

King Benson of Arcata: the new Emperor Norton of San Francisco .

Suit happy Benson, please satisfy my curiosity. I find a man who would make his income by dreaming up reasons to sue persons and cities rather than work for a living contrary to my image of a good citizen or a good leader. What do you do for a living. How do you earn your food, clothes, and shelter? Do you have a trade or means? Do you take from the public dole? Please, do advise.

Daniel Wasserman,
Greeting and health. Under God's Law and the Constitution, I am a king. -"Our government is founded upon compact. Sovereignty was, and is, in the people" --Glass v. Sloop Betsey, supreme Court, 1794.
"People of a state are entitled to all rights which formerly belong to the King, by his prerogative." --supreme Court, Lansing v. Smith, 1829
Yes, I was falsely arrested; while campaigning for Ron Paul for President, and maliciously prosecuted for over a year, before the DA dropped the fraudulent charges. I, as would you, am seeking the redress of this grievance and others, though with much local obstruction and insubordination.
The Arcata Police routinely arrest the poor for "drunk in public" without probable cause; this is an old problem in Arcata. It is part of their policy of discrimination and gentrification, and no evidence is needed to convict. Most simply accept the abuse and leave the area to avoid it, it is quite insidious and effective. Enjoy!

Hmm, with my ballot statment quote and my relationship with HumMAP, I can see how I might come across as a "pot candidate" here. Ironically, I'm one of the few in HumMAP that doesn't smoke/grow/dispense. :) To clarify though: I'd rather see Arcata be known for our marijuana policy-making than our marijuana. Since it's something we're already dealing with locally, I think leveraging our expertise and experience to keep our marijuana ordinance(s) revised as new issues come up should be our goal. Cities and counties still look to Arcata's ordinance for guidance when it comes to creating their own. I'm always open to suggestions or criticism though.

Pot aside -- diversifying our industrial base and seeing West End and Samoa Boulevard revitalized are issues I think are more important than marijuana right now. Daniel, you did nail it with Stillman -- she's got far more experience with both city government and economic development than I do. However, her and I do come from far different business backgrounds, so I think both of us have something to bring to the table.

I'm looking forward to the months to come... It should definitely be interesting.

Benson? This is the guy that thinks he is a king upon earth and such. Benson, who was arrested for possessing drugs and being drunk in public and then tried to sue the arresting cop for tens of million?

Geronimo, the guy who smears his feces inside of a police car after his arrest for creating a disturbance in an otherwise peaceful gathering at HSU? Geronimo, who rides his bicycle around while yelling rude and offensive things at the public?

Maybe Sailors will be a decent choice. Wheetley is good enough choice. Stillman is a better choice for the economy than Mohland, who is simply yearning for a more "Pot City" Arcata than it already is.

Meserve? Really? How much of Arcata's money is he going to waste going to protest his causes in far away places this time?

Please vote wisely. Arcata is starting to do better than it has in ages despite the growers and the issues with homelessness. Please Arcatans Don't put more crazies back on the council. Please.
