APD Seeking Missing Person (Updated – He’s Been Found) – September 14, 2010
NORTHTOWN – On Thursday, September 23, at about 11: a.m., the Arcata Police Department was notified of a possible missing person. James Hagerty, 76, from Brookings Oregon was last seen in the Northtown area of Arcata, driving a powder blue 2005 Toyota Rav4 SUV. The vehicle has Oregon license plates, 445DUF.
Hagerty suffers dementia. He was in Arcata for a medical appointment. He has family members in Humboldt County and lived in the Eureka area in the past. Family and friends have been contacted and Mr. Hagerty has not been located. His destination is not known.
Officers searched the area where Hagerty was last seen. APD has initiated a Missing Person investigation. Local and regional law enforcement agencies in both Northern California and Oregon have been notified.
Anyone having contact with Hagarty or seeing his vehicle are urged to contact their local law enforcement.
UPDATE
Today at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Arcata Police Department was notified that missing person James Hagerty had been located.
He was found in Sunnyvale. The Sunnyvale Police Department responded to the call of a disoriented man and contacted Hagerty. His family has been notified and are driving to Sunnyvale to reunite with him.
Hagerty was uninjured and his vehicle was located nearby.
The Arcata Police Department was assisted in this investigation by members of the Hagerty family, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol. Their assistance is greatly appreciated.
