The “Bike Friendly” thing is a sham, or at least extremely premature. There’s constant low-level warfare between discourteous, unsafe vehicle drivers and irresponsible bicyclists. Green Wheels, both the Arcata and HSU branches, offer next to no leadership insofar as instilling responsible traffic behavior in their adherents.

I keep hearing Arcata is not bike friendly enough,…. Yet, when I drive in town I find myself constantly having to be more alert to bicyclists running stop signs and not being able to decide whether they ride on the sidewalk or not.

Still waiting to see what his views and plans are for dealing with the homeless. We have three of the best, most dynamic agencies here in Arcata for dealing with the issue and yet, our little town still has a problem. Whats up with that?
