Three Arrested On Theft, Conspiracy Charges – March 30, 2011
On Wednesday, March 30 at about 4 a.m., officers from the Arcata Police Department were assisting the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation on the west side of Arcata. During the investigation, an HCSO Deputy observed a gold Jeep Cherokee being driven on Alliance Road. A small motorcycle was hanging out of the back of the Jeep. The deputy stopped and contacted the occupants of the Jeep on 27th Street. APD officers responded to that location.
During their investigation, APD officers contacted the motorcycle’s registered owner and learned that it had just been stolen. When they were interviewed, the occupants of the Jeep made conflicting statements. They were taken into custody for being in possession of the stolen vehicle.Following their arrest, items were located in the Jeep that police say indicated that they had acted together in taking the motorcycle. The three were also taken into custody on a charge of conspiracy.Twenty-four-year-old Craig Newell of Eureka, 26-year-old Peter Her of Manila and 22 year-old Melissa Fredericks of Manila were booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for the violations. Her was additionally placed on a hold by CDC Parole.
