Eureka Branch of NAACP To Send Local Delegate to National Convention
LOS ANGELES – Founded in 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization. From the ballot box to the classroom, the thousands of dedicated workers, organizers, leaders and members who make up the NAACP continue to fight for social justice for all Americans.

The Eureka Branch of the NAACP was founded in 1956, embracing the NAACP’s mission to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.
The Eureka Branch is proud to have the opportunity to send Ms. Lorna Bryant, as a delegate to the NAACP’s 102nd National Convention: Affirming America’s Promise, taking place July 23-28 in Los Angeles.
Bryant, the office manager for KHSU and one of the rotating hosts of the KHSU Homepage, is looking forward to the educational and networking opportunities that will be present.
“I am honored to be serving as the Eureka Branch’s delegate and to have the opportunity to network with NAACP members from all over the country,” she said. “Perhaps most importantly, to return to Eureka reinvigorated with new program initiatives to implement.”
Eureka Branch NAACP President, A.V. Powell added, “While we have come a long towards equality we work hard to ensure that our goals are met to end racism, sexism, lack of access to jobs and to make our world a better place. The NAACP is a multi-racial group and we, at the local level, are proud to be part of the work.”
The Eureka Branch of the NAACP meets the third Sunday of each month, 3:30 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center.
