Andrew, we already stopped a factory chicken farm that was proposed next to our properties in McK. A factory goat farm would not be any better.

Your letter reminded me of my dad, a good soul who was normally level-headed but misinformed in some areas. He disagreed with my anti-nuclear activism and said, "I wouldn't mind having one of them in my own back yard." Fortunately, he never had to find out how bad it could be.

Rick Park, Kevin Hoover has every reason to milk this ag zoning story. People in our community have been debating land use issues for years.

The "state of continuous pregnancy" statement is incorrect. Dairy goat pregnancy lasts 5 months. Goat breeding involves drying out lactating goats 8-20 weeks before breeding them again. Goats go into heat for a brief period every 3-4 weeks in late fall to winter. Dairy goats produce milk for an average of 9 months. The milk produced for the first few weeks after giving birth is too high in water and natural antibodies to be used for cheese. The majority of goat milk would be unfit for cheesemaking in a continuous pregnancy scenario.
