We visited the bar on several occasions from Arizona when my brother – Fred Trump – owned it. Fred lived in a front apartment over the bar with his dog – Salty. Marino’s was obviously a favorite place for the locals and we enjoyed our visits there.

I met my husband in the art department at HSU in 1966. Our first date was in Marino’s, dancing to Frank Sinatra on the jukebox.

My home away from home as well. Many a good moment was had, and I felt terrible for Steve when it happened. I watched it go up after hearing the sirens and seeing the flames; I could see it from Vanni’s trailer park. So sad.

That was such a sad sight. The worst was you couldn’t go to Marino’s to cry in your beer over the loss of the NEC library.
