Stabbing Suspect Arrested – December 16, 2011

STABBING SUSPECT ARRESTED
On Thursday, Dec. 15 at about 9:04 p.m., Arcata Police Officers responded to the report of a fight in progress in the 700 block of 10th St. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a male victim with three stab wounds. During the investigation a description of the suspect was obtained and officers began checking the area. The victim was transported to the Mad River Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A subject matching the description of the suspect was located in the 1000 block of G Street and detained. Further investigation led to the suspect being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. He was identified as David Liebe, 41, of McKinleyville. Liebe was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for 245(a)(1) PC-Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The victim was admitted to the Mad River Hospital with critical injuries.
The case remains under investigation and the Arcata Police is asking anyone that may have witnessed the incident to call the police department at (707) 822-2428.
