APD Looking For Creepy Van & Driver Seen By High School – February 18, 2012
ARCATA POLICE PRESS RELEASE
On Friday, Feb. 17 at approximately 3:18 PM, the Arcata Police Department responded to the 900 block of Q St and to the area of the Arcata High School to investigate two separate reports of a suspicious male in a a vehicle.
APD received a report of a white male, described as having a long white beard and mustache in a grey or bronze van driving slowly past juveniles at both locations. The male subject reportedly stoped and told one of the juveniles to get into his vehicle. The juvenile ingored the subject and reported the incident to parents.
After an extensive search of the area APD was unable to locate the subject or vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle was possibly a Honda Odyssey and no license plate was obtained.
The incident remains under investigation and the Arcata Police Departement is requesting anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact the police department at (707) 822-2428.

Why did “alert” post Megan’s Law list? Pretty sure that is against the rules, and at least if you are going to break the law, you could narrow the field to people old enough to have a “white beard”

It just goes to show you that pervs and child molesters are increasing in Arcata, APD should have a printout of the Megan’s Law for Humboldt County on the window so all can see it, I was SHOCKED when I saw how many convicted pedophiles live here. I was totally blown away when I saw a guy on the next street was listed. He always seemed a bit strange.

There are plenty of sexual predators out there, both registered and not. And there are registered offenders with 40 year old convictions who have been law abiding citizens ever since. The Megan’s Law website and 290 registration should be used to monitor, but not demonize.
Wow! I am impressed. I’m glad you people are so ontop of your game as to list people too young to have white beards as the person driving the van! Better list the rest of humboldt as well just to make sure we have the field narrowed down. Hell toss in Shane Brinton since he is on record saying how he doesn’t like to shave!
You should have an Arcata Map each week that shows each sex convict listed under Megan’s Law Arcata. If someone who believes openly and wants to live that’s great; however if someone molested a child or raped a child I don’t care how sorry they are, I’ll make their life a living hell. Screw the pedo-perverts.
