You should not dismiss this issue based on precedent. By 1830 there was several thousand years of precedent to maintain slavery as an institution too. The wealthy have a say in our country, as they should. A corporation is not that dissimilar to a union or political party and all should have a right to a collective voice. The issue is in giving inalienable human rights to certain non-human institutions while denying those rights to other institutions and (increasingly) even to humans . Money will always trump words but if we, as citizens, just allow our rights to be sold off then there will be no one else to blame for whatever we get. This is a huge issue that the media largely ignores yet potentially has repercussions more profound than health care or who wins the next election. I applaud anyone who makes the effort to bring it to our attention.

Editor, that headline had me befuddled. I could not figure out what Marines had to do with little marshmallow bunnies, or why they were gathering initiative.

Good luck with your drive Mr Meserve, unfortunately there is hundreds of years of legal precedence saying that money is speech. The anti Corporation thing is since the 1830s as I recall.
