MUSIC, MAGIC AND SPECTACLE AT THE 15TH ANNUAL ARCATA EYE BALL
Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Arcata Theatre Lounge
The Arcata Eye presents the 15th Annual Arcata Eye Ball, Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Arcata Theatre Lounge, 1036 G St. Tickets are $15 each, two for $25, available at The Works, Wildberries Marketplace, People’s Records, Wildwood Music, the Arcata Eye and arcatatheater.com. All ages may attend, those 17 and under with an adult.
Featured performers include the Arcata Eye Rockestra, composed of local musicians from various bands and backgrounds. Once again, the Eye Ball will feature performances by Dell’Arte, the Pom Pom Queens and Rutabaga Queens, joined this year by International Superclown Shea FreeLove. Former Arcata Mayor Bob Ornelas will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The Eye Ball is a benefit for the Arcata Eye newspaper, with live and silent auctions by the Eureka Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. This year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Union Labor Health Foundation’s Dental Angel Fund, which provides dental care for local disadvantaged children.
Headlining the 2012 Eye Ball is the Arcata Eye Rockestra, offering a variety of classic rock favorites with an Arcata twist. This year’s line-up is: Rob Amerman: guitar, vocals; Kelly Brannon: drums; Pete Ciotti: guitar, drums, vocals; Dan Davis, bass; Andrew Goff: bass, keyboards, vocals; Kelly Hoover: keyboards, guitar, vocals; Kevin Hoover: drums; Josephine Johnson: vocals; Marla Joy: bass, sax, flute, vocals; Mark Lovelace: guitar, vocals; Terrence McNally: vocals; Wolf Navarro: guitar, vocals; Rick Park: guitar, vocals; Ross Rowley: bass, vocals; and Hank Sims: guitarrón, vocals.
As a special feature, Hank Sims and Andrew Goff will perform recently discovered music recorded by Arcata’s beloved “Ragman,” Pete Villarreal. Hear Pete’s music online at arcataeye.com.
Dell’Arte wowed the 2010 Eye Ball with dramatic readings of the Eye’s world-famous Police Log. Last year featured the vocal stylings of the Dell’Arte Odd Fellows.
The Rutabaga Queens, your benevolent monarchs of the Kinetic Kingdom, will raise heck and spread glory just as they do at the Kinetic Grand Championship.
The Pom Pom Queens, re-dubbed the Eye Dolls, will dazzle attendees with their saucy gyrations.
International Superclown Shea FreeLove will astound and baffle with hair-raising and mind-bending antics.
