Derk & Wendy Schulze: NCRC Ready, Able, In Need Of Support – March 27, 2012

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

It is the intent of the board of the North Coast Resource Center to reopen. The date of the reopening will depend in part on the financial support of the community.

We have put together a streamlined budget and a restart strategy that will help the organization rebuild momentum while it resumes its most important tasks of food box distribution and gleaning opportunities for produce and bread.

We hope to get back to providing a community meal, hygiene services (showers and laundry), case management, a fully functioning Back to Basics program (our work enablement program), homeless court and the Extreme Weather Shelter.

We are working on strengthening the board, putting together a fundraising campaign and are looking for community volunteers who can pitch in as we transition from closure to reopening.

Financial contributions can be mailed to NCRC, 555 Bayside Road, Arcata, CA 95521 and are tax deductible.

We would like to thank those in the community who have continued to contribute during our temporary closure.  If you’re interested in getting involved, please e-mail ncrcsupport@gmail.com.

For now, this is the primary contact point until a regular presence at the service center is reestablished.

Derk and Wendy Schulze first got involved with the NCRC when they saw that the needs in the community were greater than what could be met by their church alone.  Sunny Brae Church has partnered with the NCRC for the past six years.
