Watch Wood Wars At Mazzotti’s – March 9, 2012
ARCATA – Humboldt Hardware will hold “Wood Wars,” a benefit for The Blue Ox Community School, Arcata Main Street and Pacific Union School Friday, March 9 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Mazzotti’s, 773 Eighth St.
This event is a collaboration of Arcata businesses and local woodworkers.
Contestants have been given materials to create a fun woodworking piece for silent auction.
On Wednesday, Feb. 22 , woodworkers received the materials from Humboldt Hardware and were given two weeks to complete the project.
On Tuesday, March 6, projects will be displayed at Mazzotti’s on the Plaza. The display will include artist information and silent auction forms.
On Friday, March 9, Mazzotti’s will host the live event, “Wood Wars” which includes the judging and after party, which features The Sons of Remus and Kindred Spirit.
The cost is $7 from 8 to 11 p.m. Judging will be hosted by the students at Blue Ox Community School and recorded for Blue Ox Radio.
The projects will be judged by Humboldt Hardware’s Jacoby’s Storehouse friends Terrence McNally (Arcata Photo Studios), Jennifer Savage (North Coast Journal, Humboldt Surfrider), Vaden Hoffman (jeffandvaden social marketing), Dan Ehresman (NEC office manager) and Alan Murphy (Board of Carmel Heritage Society) on creativity design and fun.
Awards will be gift certificates from local businesses and will be given to top contestants in Amateur and Pro categories.
Contestants will have the opportunity to explain their work businesses and backgrounds.
Then the Judges will make their decisions. Contest and Auction winners will be announced at 9 p.m.
