HLOC’s Yankees-Crabs Connection & Quiz – Enter To Win!

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Jacob Smith as the batboy with Rigel Schmidt as Welsh, and “hitball” with Bill Ryder as the Senators’ coach with members of the team.

Humboldt Light Opera Company presents Damn Yankees – the story of Joe Boyd, an obsessed baseball fan who exchanges his aging body and soul for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory over the New York Yankees. But when Joe decides that the woman he’s always loved is more enticing than either his regained youth or a phenomenal batting average, his race to maneuver around the Devil becomes as challenging as anything pitched on field.

James Gadd plays the youthful re-incarnation of Joe, whose batting may be lit by hellfire, but whose intentions remain as homemade as apple pie. Carol Escobar plays Joe’s loyal wife; Lela Annotto-Pemberton his attempting seductress; and Brad Curtis is the devil himself. Robert Keiber plays the mature Joe; Melissa Trauth an investigating reporter; and Bill Ryder is the team’s coach.

Admission is $15 general, $13 for students/seniors/kids. Tickets are on sale now at Holly Yashi in Arcata, Parasol Arts in Old Town, Fortuna Music Mart in Fortuna, and online at hloc.org. Damn Yankees runs three weekends, April 13-28 at the College of the Redwoods Forum Theater – with evening shows at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Baseball fans take note: audience members are entered to win a season pass to the Crabs! E-mail answers to ticketing@hloc.org by Thursday, April 26 at 5 p.m. for closing weekend
