THIRD DISTRICT – As Mark Lovelace and his wife Valorie danced at Arcata’s Jambalaya Club last night, the incumbent Third District supervisor was also waltzing to victory in vote tallies.

Lovelace won more than two-thirds of the vote, finishing with 3,259 votes (67.84 percent) to challenger Karen Brooks’ 1,523 (31.70 percent). There were 22 write-in votes.

In other supervisorial races, candidate Rex Bohn overwhelmingly defeated Cheryl Seidner in the First District, 3,872 to 1,713. In the Second District, Estelle Fennell edged Clif Clendenen, 2,827 to 2,606.

Lovelace made this statement Wednesday:

“The final results have me at 68%, with a whopping 73% of all votes cast on election day. My thanks and appreciation to the voters for once again placing their trust in me. I’m honored to have such strong support from the people of the 3rd District, and will continue to work hard every day to make Humboldt County the best Humboldt it can be.

“My thanks to all of the volunteers, contributors and supporters who helped me with this campaign. My deepest thanks to my wife Val and my daughter Abbey for their love and support, as well as their incredible patience during this busy campaign.”
