Arcata Chamber Hires New Executive Director

The Arcata Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the recent hiring of Sandy Scott in the position of Executive Director. Sandy, her husband Harry, and their two cats moved to Humboldt County from Charleston, SC June 1, 2011. Sandy begins her new position on Thursday, July 19, 2012.
Sandy has held various positions in the non-profit industry from Volunteer Coordinator to Executive Director in national and grass roots organizations. She has worked in the for-profit sector, and owned her own business in Puerto Rico. She will be sharing her passion for collaborating, team building and working with the community as she assists the Chamber in honoring their Vision Statement: “promoting a free-enterprise business system while safeguarding the aesthetic values of the community”. Sandy is looking forward to meeting current Chamber members and getting to know the community at-large.
Sandy serves on the Board of the Humboldt Literacy Project, volunteers for the United Way of the Wine Country and Hospice of Humboldt, and she is a member and secretary of Northcoast Kiwanis Club and Northcoast Employer
Advisory Council. Sandy loves to travel and is passionate about Nepal, enjoys kayaking, hiking, reading, technology, and crossword puzzles.
