FIELDBROOK – On Monday, Sept. 102 at about 10 a.m. the Humboldt County Drug Task responded to a residence in the 2400 block of Elizabeth Road, Fieldbrook. Drug Task Force Agents had intercepted $5,000 in cash that was being sent to the residence in the mail. Agents went to the residence to inquire about the $5,000 in cash.

When agents knocked on the front door to the residence they contacted a subject named, Matthew R. Bengtson, 32. While Agents were speaking to Bengtson they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the residence. Officers then detained Bengtson and secured the residence for a search warrant.

At about 12:30 p.m., a search warrant was obtained for the residence. Agents then searched the residence. Agents located four pounds of processed marijuana in one pound individual bags in the residence. Agent located evidence of manicuring of marijuana in the residence. Agents located five handguns and over $22,000 in cash in the residence.

Agents seized the $22,000 and the $5,000 for possible asset forfeiture. Bengtson was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales and for being armed in the commission of a felony. Bengtson and was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility in Eureka and his bail was set at $50,000.

This case is still under investigation by the Humboldt County Drug Task Force.
