HSU Geography Lecturer Loses Life In Hit-And-Run Accident – September 27, 2012

ARCATA – Suzanne (Susie) Seamann, a Humboldt State University Geography lecturer, was killed the morning of Thursday, Sept. 27 in a hit-and-run accident on Myrtle Avenue south of Ole Hanson Road.
Seeman, along with Terri Vroman-Little, 50, of Eureka, and Jessica Hunt, 41, of Eureka were jogging northbound on west shoulder of Myrtle Avenue, south of Ole Hansen Road.
A 2005 Kia Spectra, driven by an unknown subject, left its lane of travel and struck all three of the female joggers. Jessica Hunt and Terri Vroman-Little sustained major injuries due to the collision and were transported from the scene to St. Joseph Hospital.
A dog belonging to one of the joggers was struck and killed in the collision. The driver of the Kia fled the scene directly following the collision. The Kia was later found abandoned by Eureka Police Department officers on California Street in Eureka.
Seemann, 40, is the daughter-in-law of late Humboldt State University Journalism Professor Howard Seemann. She is survived by her husband and two children.
A memorial run which had been planned for Sunday morning was canceled at the request of the victims’ families.
