Sobriety Checkpoint Snares Two Schnockered Souls

APD CONDUCTS SOBRIETY/DRIVERS LICENSE CHECKPOINT AND ENHANCED ENFORCEMENT
The Arcata Police Department conducted a sobriety/drivers license checkpoint along with enhanced enforcement on Friday, Jan. 18 in the 500 block of H Street.
The checkpoint was operated from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and 191 cars were screened. In total, two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence and one was cited for driving unlicensed during the operation.
The checkpoint along with increased traffic enforcement, are part of the APD’s effort to reduce collisions and improve traffic safety during the holiday season.
This project is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s Minor Decoy/Shoulder Tap Grant Project, funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
