Eye Balll 2013 Poster16TH ANNUAL ARCATA EYE BALL A BENEFIT FOR THE ARCATA RIDGE TRAIL

The 16th Annual Arcata Eye Ball takes place Saturday, March 9 at the Arcata Theatre Lounge.  Admission is $15; doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at Wildberries Marketplace, People’s Records, Wildwood Music, California Welcome Center, The Works and at arcatatheatre.com

As with past years, the 2013 Eye Ball offers an action-packed evening of entertainment and music. Starting at 7 p.m., enjoy the vaudevillian antics and artistry of Shea FreeLove and his FreeLove Circus. Next, prepare to bump and grind with the Rutabaga Queens. The Eureka Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will bring glamour and elegance to the evening. Michael Fields and Dell’Arte will deliver a subset of their theatrical musicality to the Eye Ball stage. Then, the ever-saucy gyrations of the PomPom Queens. Headlining band Paranoid Android will rock you with their unique and powerful Arcata-rock, and will back performances by a number of guest artists. Finally, the All-Star Arcata Eye Rockestra will complete the night with local luminaries playing stirring renditions of classic rock tunes.

This year’s Eye Ball is a benefit for the Arcata Ridge Trail. After years of work and fundraising, the four-mile trail through the Sunny Brae Forest and Arcata Community Forest is just $10,000 away from being fully acquired. Once complete, users will be able to walk, bike or ride a horse from West End Road to Margaret Lane in Sunny Brae.

Thanks to many generous donors, the Eye Ball’s live and silent auctions hold the promise of providing the final bit of funding for this project, with all auction proceeds to benefit the Arcata Ridge Trail. If you or your business have an item to donate to the auction, please call Debi Farber Bush at (707)  845-3873.

Musicians performing at this year’s Eye Ball are Paranoid Android: Wolf Navarro, guitar; Dan Davis, bass guitar; and Kelly Brannon, drums. Guest artists and Rockestra members include: Gil Cline, brass; Morgan Corviday, guitar/vocals; Andrew Goff, vocals; Kelly Hoover, keyboards/vocals; Kevin Hoover, drums/vocals; Marla Joy, saxophone; Gene Joyce, saxophone; Mark Lovelace, guitar/vocals; Terrence McNally, vocals; Rick Park, guitar/vocals; and Chris Johnson, horns.
