ARCATA MAN ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING FROM POLICE, FOUND TO HAVE GUN
On Monday, Feb. 13 at about 10:45 p.m., APD officers attempted to contact Codi Owens, 26, in the area of McDonald’s, 4901 Valley West Blvd., for outstanding warrants. Owens fled on foot from the officers.
A short time later, Owens was spotted in front of the Super 8 Motel. Owens fled on foot again and officers pursued. After a short foot chase, officers were able to take Owens into custody for the warrants.
During a search of Owens person, officers located an empty gun holster on his hip. Officers then searched Owens’ vehicle pursuant to his probation terms and located a loaded .380 caliber handgun.
Owens was arrested and booked at the Humboldt County Jail for the following charges:
- Carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle
- Possession of a firearm by a subject of a restraining order
- Resisting arrest
- Violation of probation
- Possession of a firearm with the serial number removed
