Any Arcata citizen or anyone who lives or works within the Arcata Planning Area is invited to apply for this influential City commission. Arcata’s Planning Commissioners are volunteers who attend two meetings a month which are televised live on Suddenlink Access Humboldt Cable Channel 10 and also webstreamed at cityofarcata.org. The seven-member Planning Commission has final decision making authority for most planning and physical development permits in the Arcata area. On Thursday, Feb. 7 at approximately 9 a.m., officers of the Arcata Police Department were dispatched to investigate a residential burglary in the 300 block of H Street.

The resident informed officers that a workshop on his property had been broken into and various tools had been stolen during an unknown time frame. While investigating, officers followed footprints leading from the workshop to a wooded area behind the residence. Two suspects were located loading the stolen tools into a waiting vehicle.

Approximately three pounds of marijuana and a usable amount of methamphetamine were also located in the vehicle.

Thirty-one-year-old Waylon Flannery of Arcata was arrested for possession of stolen property, and 37-year-old Carolyn Nelson of Arcata was arrested for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. Both suspects were booked into the Humboldt County Jail.

The stolen property was returned to the victim.
