Suspect Arrested In Valley West Over Plaza Stabbing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SUBJECT STABBED ON THE ARCATA PLAZA

On Thursday, Feb. 28 at approximately 8:49 p.m., officers responded to the Arcata Plaza on the report of a subject that had just been stabbed.

Upon arrival to the area, officers located the victim lying on the sidewalk in the 900 block of H Street. The victim was bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his right leg. Arcata Fire Department and Arcata Mad River Ambulance were called to the scene. The victim was transported to Mad River Community Hospital where he was treated and released.

While on scene, officers talked with witnesses and obtained a description of the suspect. While on patrol in the Valley West area, the suspect was located and detained in the parking lot at a local motel. The suspect was subsequently identified by the victim.

Blake Broderick, 18, of Redlands was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for a violation of penal code section 245(a)(1), Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
