McKINLEYVILLE – On Monday, April 15 Iowa State Police stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on westbound Interstate 80, near Malcolm, Iowa. When the trooper contacted the two occupants he spoke with them and explained the reason for the stop.

While speaking with them he smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from one of them. A second officer with a K-9 arrived on scene. A search of the vehicle was conducted and approximately $95,000 cash was located in the vehicle, along with a small amount of marijuana.

After interviewing both suspect,s Iowa State Police seized the cash and issued one of the males a citation for possession of a small amount of dried marijuana then released both of them.

P1000208The Iowa State Troopers learned the two males had residences they were associated with in Humboldt County. The Humboldt County Drug Task Force was notified and a Humboldt County Superior Court Search Warrant was obtained for the two residences, both in McKinleyville.

On Tuesday, April 16 at approximately 10:30 a.m. Humboldt County Drug Task Force (H.C.D.T.F.) Agents and United States Drug Enforcement Agents (U.S.D.E.A.) served a search warrant at the first residence located in the 200 block of Riverview Lane, McKinleyville.

Agents located approximately three-and-a-half pounds of hash, approximately 224 grams of hash oil, one pound of processed marijuana, and 450 growing marijuana plaints ranging from two to eight feet in height. There were also scales and paperwork indicating sales of marijuana.

At approximately 11:30 a.m. H.C.D.T.F. and U.S.D.E.A. agents served the search warrant on the second residence located in the 1600 block of Johnston Road, McKinleyville. Agents located approximately 53 pounds of processed marijuana, one ounce of hashish, suspected LSD and 96 growing marijuana plants approximately four feet high

No arrests have been made at this time. Since the suspects were not arrested their names are not being released. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Humboldt County Drug Task Force (707) 444-8095
