Old Munition Discovery Closes Alliance Road

PARTIAL CLOSURE OF ALLIANCE ROAD DUE TO OLD MUNITIONS BEING FOUND
On Wednesday, July 10 at about 1:15 p.m., a citizen reported being in possession of old military munitions in the 2200 block of Alliance Road, and wanted them safely removed.
Arcata Police Department contacted the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team to assist with removal of the possibly hazardous item.
During the removal, Alliance Road will be closed between Stewart Ave and Foster Ave to all vehicles and pedestrians.
There is not an estimated time for the roadway to be reopened.
Additional information will be provided when the situation is mitigated.
