Aldergrove House Packed With Pot, Hash, Shotgun And Electrical Hazards

On Thursday, Sept. 5 at approximately 9 a.m. Humboldt County Drug Task Force Agents assisted by the Arcata Police Department and Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office served a Humboldt Superior Court Search Warrant on a residence in the 800 block of Aldergrove Road, Arcata.

When the agents served the search warrant they located Stephen Jerome Wieland, 32 years old inside the residence. When agents initially entered the home they located an over/under shotgun mounted above the front door.  A search of the residence revealed an indoor marijuana grow and an outdoor marijuana grow with a total of 313 growing marijuana plants ranging in size from one to six feet.

Agents also located approximately 12 pounds of processed marijuana, three pounds of marijuana bud packaged for sale in one pound bags, approximately a half-pound of hash (concentrated marijuana), packaging material, a money counter, a scale and other indications the marijuana was being sold for profit.

The Humboldt County Building and Planning Department was called to the scene due to electrical hazards witnessed by the agents. The Building and Planning Department notified Pacific Gas and Electric and had the power shut off to the residence.
Wieland was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale, maintaining a residence for drugs and armed in the commission of a felony. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked and released on his own recognizance due to jail overcrowding.
