Rape Suspect Arrested, Another Sought – July 6, 2010
On Monday, July 5 at about 10:17 p.m., officers from the Arcata Police Department responded to the 300 block of Community Park Way in Arcata for the report of a sexual assault.
Upon arrival, they located the 25-year-old female victim being comforted by bystanders. The female stated a few minutes earlier, while walking home, she had met two white male adults in the 200 block of Seventh Street. After speaking with the two men briefly, she accompanied them on a foot path that led through a wooded area. Once concealed in the greenbelt, one of the men forced the woman to the ground where he sexual assaulted her. The second man assisted and also sexually assaulted the victim. The woman was able to break free after the assault and summoned the assistance of passersby.
Responding officers conducted a search of the area and were able to locate a subject that was positively identified by the victim as one of the assailants.
Kevin Scott Walker, 37 years old of Eureka was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Jail on charges of 261 PC, Rape.
The second perpetrator is still outstanding. He is described as a white or Indian male adult in his early twenties with dark shoulder length hair and thin facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket.
