APD Press Release
On Sunday, Jan. 27 at about 1:40 p.m., the Arcata Police Department received information that an armed robbery had just occurred in the 400 block of E Street. The responding officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
During the investigation, officers learned that the male victim was attempting to sell a pound of marijuana for $1,000 to several male subjects when a handgun was produced and the suspects forcbily robbed the victim of his marijuana, cell phone, wallet and car keys.
The suspects were described as black male adults in their early 20s. The suspects were last seen fleeing the scene in a black colored Chevrolet Impala with a broken windshield.
Anyone with information leading to the identity of the suspects is urged to call the Arcata Police Department at (707)822-2424.

Editor’s note: APD Sgt. Brian Hoffman said the seller was only slightly acquainted with one of the robbers, and knew only his first name. “When he breaks out the marijuana, they break out the guns,” Hoffman said.

Hoffman said the incident took place behind the Uniontown Shopping Center and was reported someone who saw it from a short distance away. The victim wasn’t particularly cooperative. Hoffman speculated that drug robberies of this nature often go unreported.
